Information about I.R.C at T.S.A :

The I.R.C. protocol was originally developed as a multi-user chat protocol in 1988.

It became popular relatively quickly and grew accordingly to several nodes in the following years. The computer scene itself, with its countless channels, migrated for the most part to the so-called „IRCNet“ or „EFNet“.

Tristar itself used the so-called „Xentonix“ I.R.C. network around the year 2000, where our main channel was located for many years.

Around 2010 – 2011 first successful steps were taken to open an own I.R.C. network. In 2018 – 2019 the first successful step was taken – 2 networks under the domains

the-solaris-agency.org:6667

the-solaris-agency.net:6667

to use. A short time later, an I.R.C. network based on SSL / TSL encryption was added by T.S.A. This encrypted network can be found under :

the-solaris-agency.org:6697

the-solaris-agency.net:6697

Whereby „the-solaris-agency.org“ represents the MAIN I.R.C Server through which one should ALWAYS connect first and only if this does NOT work should „the-solaris-agency.net“ be used as RESERVE I.R.C Server.

T.S.A. offers you the most MODERN I.R.C systems and the possibility to access OUR I.R.C network via comfortable web chat. ( You can also use your favourite „client“ like Mirc etc. )

The important I.R.C commands in the T.S.A. network :

Due to the traditional origin of the I.R.C System and the fact that technically speaking there are NO „buttons“ available in the I.R.C System itself to give commands, the commands are given by text input.

It might be a bit strange for someone who has never worked with I.R.C. before, especially as there are a lot of commands. However, we will limit ourselves to the most important commands here in this section to avoid any unnecessary confusion.

It is also important to know that some rooms cannot be entered just like that. The following reasons can lead to the fact that you have NO permission to enter a room.

  • The room needs a registered name ( nickname )
  • The room allows only registered names, which are entered on the so-called „room list“ by the room owner.
  • The room requires a SSL / TSL connection. This means that you have to be connected via port 6697.
  • The room is password protected.

One more remark on the subject of „Registering your own rooms“ . This function is DISABLED on the T.S.A. server to keep the system clear. You can, however, as long as you are connected to the T.S.A Server, open a room or, if you want to stay in the T.S.A I.R.C system permanently, apply for a room from the Server Admins which will then be registered permanently.

Let us now come to the most important commands of the T.S.A I.R.C. server which must be used AFTER logging into the server. ( Some functions are already integrated in OUR Web Chat as „button“ )

List all public spaces :

/list

Change own name :

/nick New-Name

Entering a room. ( If the room does not exist you open your OWN room ) :

/join #Room-Name

Entering a PASSWORD protected room :

/join #Raum-Name PASSWORD

Leaving a room :

/part #Room-Name

When you are NOT available :

/away Reason

When you are available again :

/back

Write someone a PRIVATE message :

/notice Name

Ignoring someone :

/ignore Name

NO MORE Ignoring someone :

/unignore Name

Leave the T.S.A Server / Close ALL connections :

/quit

These are the MOST IMPORTANT commands on the I.R.C. server of T.S.A. More commands follow in the next chapter.

The other I.R.C commands in the T.S.A. network :

In this chapter we will come to further useful commands of the I.R.C Server of T.S.A.

In addition to the actual I.R.C system, the T.S.A. also runs the following services which are generally known as :

  • NickServ
  • ChanServ
  • MemoServ
  • Stats
  • OperServ

The Services provide ADDITIONAL functions. So it is possible to register your own nickname, which remains valid in the system for up to 365 days ! even if not used, and is bound to the respective user.

The services also provide functions to register rooms or to call up statistics.

Last but not least, these services also make it easier for server administrators to manage and structure the I.R.C. server. Most of the I.R.C servers that are operated do NOT offer these functions.

Now let’s have a look at some of the other I.R.C commands on the T.S.A server.

Register a nickname :

/nick Wishname

/msg nickserv REGISTER passwort e-mail

In order to be able to access your REGISTERED WISH name at the next log-in to the I.R.C. Server network of T.S.A., you must enter the following DIRECTLY AFTER REGISTERING within 60 to 120 seconds

/nick Wishname

/msg nickserv IDENTIFY Wishname password

The internal help provided by the T.S.A Server I.R.C network itself :

Finally, some information that can be requested directly from the I.R.C network directly after logging in to the T.S.A server.

Here is a list of the assistance offered:

HELP : Nickname Services :

/msg nickserv help

Help : Chan Services :

/msg chanserv help

Help : Bot Services :

/msg botserv help

In addition to the help provided by the „services“ running on the I.R.C. server, the I.R.C. itself also offers help which can be called up as follows

List of user commands :

/helpop USERCMDS

List of user modes :

/helpop UMODES

List of channel modes :

/helpop CHMODES

List of the Oper. Commands :

/helpop OPERCMDS
